It seems as if it was meant to be vertical, from the two stands that attatch to the bottom.

Id have mine vertically upright, cause theres no space on my table, plus also it makes playing gamecube games a little easier. That is, if you dont jerk at the cables. Anyway it is designed to be that way, looks better and doesnt overheat as quickly.

Current thougths:

Reality is too moistful, so we view it in our own little moist-packs.

Dry only prevails when the moist people use towls.
