the best racing game on the wii, is that a compliment though
This games root started out as the Exite Bike game which was off the hook, the only question is, can Exite Truck hold a candle to it. Find out in the official Wiisay review
Presentation
When you first boot the game up, u see that the menu does not use the wii pointer functionality at all, instead u have to turn the controller on its side (which looks like an nes controller), As you know, Exite Bike used this as its menu selecting thing, just pointing that out. After u do the tutorial, then u have the option to explore the vast menu, 4 things to choose from, there is exite race, challenge, versus and tutorial; it is not a huge selection at all but you will have to make do. Ok, so the presentation is not good at all, i have to give it a 5.5 out of 10
Sound
In the sound department, this game almost shines, here y. To start out, u will see that the soundtrack consists of heavy metal, that's where the game shines because the music really helps u get into the exprinence making it alot more fun than it actually is. The sound effects in this game are, well soundeffects, because they are not good but its not bad, it falls in the catagory "yeah...but". It would be better with better soundeffects but what are u going to do, sound gets a 9 out of 10
Graphics
As we all know, the Wii was not built to be a graphical machine, but this game is surprisingly above average because it delivers what you would exepct from a game but then it looks better as u play it, i cant explain this, but if u play it, u will know what i mean. Now the thing that makes the graphics great is the air effects, they are not realistic, but add a great touch of the Exite Bike arcady feel and thats y graphics get an 8.5 out of 10
Gameplay
Here is were i get criticial, this is what made Exite Bike great and it hasto make Exite Truck great to, sadly it does come up a bit short. The main problem i have with the gameplay is how senstive the wii-mote is, it's like a go-kart, if u barly touch it, it turns. This is not a really bad thing after awile, but it puts a learning curve on the game, thats bad for a generally pick-up and play game but after u get over that, then u start to realize that the games music elavates it to a new level. Possibly the best part of the game is the jump whcih feel fun, and amazing. For these reasons, gameplay gets an 8 out of 10
Last thought
the bad part about this game is that u beat it in around 7 hours, which is really short and then after that gets really boring and mindnumbingly (thats not a word) repetive. My last thought gets a 3.5 out of 10
Presentation: 5.5
Sound: 9
Graphics: 8.5
Gameplay: 8
Last Thought: 3.5
Overall: 7.6 If this game could keep fresh longer, then i would suggest buying it, but this has rental written all over it
