The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess



Could this be the best game of all time?

Warning, spoilers in this paragraph!
Four Years of waiting and praying have leaded us to this moment, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Ok, this game begins in ordon village, a small village where Link grows up, the game starts with a cut-scene of one of the kids of ordon village’s father, he tells you he wants you to deliver the royal gift to hyrule. Now in the beginning of gameplay, all you do is go around doing simple tasks to get a slingshot. I will not tell what happens next but this marks the true beginning to the review:

Presentation
Well, the first snip of the great presentation lies within the games pre title screen that show Link riding on a bridge exploring the vast land of Hyrule, this also features the only non MIDI soundtrack of the game. Ok lets jump into it, I will start off by saying that the 4 years we all waited, were not in vain, you will find that this game features some very well done cut-scenes and animations towards its credit, these cut-scenes and animations could be responsible for a feeling that your not playing a video game, your living this experience, all games really try for this mark and im glad to say that this is possibly the best presentation of any video game to date because of the use of everything used (sound, visual etc) in conclusion this game, for presentation gets a 10 out of 10

Sound
I got to say, this is the worst feature of this entire game, here are the reasons. I am wondering why Nintendo did not put that much effort into sound because that can make or break a game. I will get started by saying that you will notice a lot of sound not coming from your tv, that’s because the majority of sounds come from the wii-mote speaker, which is pretty crappy, even though it was a good and inventive idea, leave the sound to the Dolby Pro Logic 2 instead of the less than stellar walkie talkie speaker.

Maybe I am being unfair, the sword slashing sounds good and the midna giggling is alright, but everything else should have been done by the t.v. There has also been a lot of criticism about the MIDI over orchestra but this was a good choice because it allows for the music to change in seconds to create the mood of the game. At the beginning of this I did say that is was the worst part of the game, and it was 8 out of 10

Graphics
Now here is where the game gets alot of bad reviews, I personally love the graphics, heres y. The graphics are amazing because of the art forms of all the environments and the dungeons. There are 9 dungeons, all of them are better than the last, u will notice that the textures in this game are somewhat lacking but if you can look past that you will see the little things do matter, for ex, for the first time the facial expressions look on target with the mood that the games is giving. For these reasons the graphics get a 9 out of 10

Gameplay
Here it is, the best part of the review. First off I would love to say that the sword controls u will find them to be the best in the whole series, the slashing does not feel tacked on but yet just very lovely in every way shape and form, Second I would love to say this game features the best targeting not only in the Zelda series, but in ALL of the games ever released, I mean this because the wii-mote adds such a great perspective to aiming and it feels almost as intuitive as firing a real bow, im still serious. Third but not least, there seams to be a love (at least in me) in playing as a wolf because it is so dam good and natural, plus once u get the master sword you can transform into a wolf instead of having to find grass to call epona. My only complaint is trying to find insects and kill them to save the land is stupid and annoying, WTF INSECTS, u should have done shadow beings I think. Anywho gameplay deserves a 9.5 out of 10

Last thought
With the review almost done I want to say that the game is 60-70 hours long and can go into the 100 mark if u do everything the game has to offer. Replay value is high because the game is way to good. Replay Value gets 10 out of 10.

Replay value: 10 out of 10
Overall 9.7, lets play the game of the year
